The California Association of Health Facilities has a nationally recognized program to assist long-term care facilities to prepare for an emergency event or disaster. In cooperation with local public health agencies, emergency responders and the State of California, the CAHF Disaster Preparedness Program has reached thousands of long-term care supervisors and front-line employees, offering free training sessions on a variety of subjects. By providing instruction and encouraging development of relationships before a disaster, CAHF is working to ensure the best outcome for skilled nursing residents who routinely face floods, mudslides, earthquakes and wildfires.
